Hey - I didn't actually think of using a Mega; I think Uno's are just nice and easy and the right size for this kind of build.
I think alongside the blind spots my use of wait commands in the Arduino code is causing issues - I will need to go over it and some point and make better timers for such things.
Using wait commands totally pauses the code and so I think a lot of the time where the robot wasn't avoiding objects properly or processing it was currently sat in a waiting state on the Uno.
Thanks! Yeah it's something I'll look into if I make a sequel project - hopefully make it tidier having the wires and LED's inside.
