Yes, we know that we could not use the mosfet, but the price does not raise too much to use it and also makes sure that ANY microcontroller, due to the low current demand, works.
Yes, we know that we could not use the mosfet, but the price does not raise the price much to use it and also makes sure that any microcontroller, due to the low current demand, works. 10mA vs 60uA is still a significant improvement in the design.
The mosfet is a fundamental part in the design so that the arduino can perform the switching with the smallest current possible. With this design we go from 36mA to 60uA in the digital pins. The design without the MOSFET may be precarious to the microcontroller.
