It’s an i2c connector for the lcd, it requires fewer pins and simplified the project for me. Do do a google search.
Depending on the manufacturer you use it could have a different address, see line 12 of the code, mine was 0x27.
The Amazon one in the parts list uses 0x20.
I only have the one shown in the project. Are you able to build your own,?what’s your plans for it as it isn’t very robust in its present form.
