About this project

Firstly I will tell you I am not an expert in coding and there will most certantly be things in my code that could have been done better. Thus I would appreciate feedback on things that could have been done diffrently. I am happy aslong as it works.

For this project you will need an Arduino Uno and a 2.4" TFT touchscreen. You will also need to install adafruits graphics libraries, and the right library for your screen. The library I used is mcufriend and can be found here.

Anyways, the other day I finally got my 2.4 TFT screen to work after having some troubles with inverted axis on the screen and I decided why not copy someones code and play some games on it. However, after searching for a while I couldn't find a code where you had touch controls instead of buttons as the display takes up all the pins on the Arduino Uno. This then resulted in me trying to make 1 player pong with touchcontrols. I started off my code with the "basic button" example in mcufriends library and started modifying it from there. After struggling alot with the code, I had a breaktrough and actually made it. I was quite thrilled, so I started making another game, one based of the retro arcade game Breakout which is similar to pong. After making both games I thought, why not put the games together and have a GUI where I can choose between the two games. And so I did.

I also added a exit button wich throws you back to the menu, and a pause button. However, the pause button works more like a restart button at this point.

I also designed and 3d printed out a case for the Arduino with the screen for practical reasons.

To be honest, this is not a finished project as I'm thinking about buying a STM32 microcontroller with a 4" TFT screen (already bought) and making a game console for replicas of retro games. In the meantime I will probably use an Arduino Mega with a 2.4" TFT to make more games, as the uno doesnt have the memory to have more than three games with my coding.
