The smart insole collects foot pressure data in real-time. Through Thinger.io the information is fed into a system that visualizes the data.
Project tutorial by Juliette van der Pas
Hi Carlos and Umar, thanks for your comments. I also found that the FSRs are not very sensitive. The largest one I used (Interlink 406), turned out to be not much different than the smaller ones. One thing I read somewhere, but not followed up on, is that adding more voltage dividers may help to improve the sensitivity. The FSR's work great for measuring relative forces though. One thing that helped me is to use a logarithmic function to better distinguish differences. This is instead of the 'standard' formula provided by the Interlink manual and Adafruit. This is a Proof Of Concept project though, so I did not have the time to work out all the details. This can easily be a project in itself! Please keep me posted if you find something that works well. I’m very interested in this topic.
Hi Carlos, thank you for your interest and question. In my case I am not yet interested in the absolute values and focus on the relative weights. I did not want to build scales, because I think these sensors are not sensitive enough for this. Good luck on your project!
Thanks very much for the interest. I have not yet given this much thought and so far focused all my time and energy on getting this to work :-)
