Thank you! I have actually messed around with multiplexing from my Uno with an 8x8 LED grid (16 pins, 64 lights) and I was planning on applying that technique on my next project by making a shirt with a grid of lights.
Well this is not a dress I frequently wear, it's more of a one-time use piece and I'm not concerned about washing it. Event pieces (prom, wedding, or homecoming dresses) don't really get washed.
The Lilypad LEDs are actually washing machine safe, my problem with washing it would be that the hot glue I used to secure the threads would likely not hold up, and I don't intend on washing it as the fabrics can be unpredictable and washing a dress can ruin it.
