    If the probe is being used in applications such as hydroponics, fish tanks or any environment that generally has levels of weak acid/base then calibrating once per year would suffice.
    Currently, the calibration is done via the Arduino serial monitor. Adding buttons for this would be a neat modification!

    The board does all the processing and outputs in real-time, the pH of the sample.

    The motor in the pump has its own 12V power supply. Only the controller (attached to the back of the pump) is connected to the Arduino. The operating voltage of the controller is 3.3V – 5V.

    This is a very basic application of the peristaltic pump. Definitely, more components such as level sensors and solenoids can be added to improve the system.

    When we created these libraries and accompanying examples, we tried to balance ease of use and performance. In this case, we felt that the Arduino built-in string library and its parsing capabilities simplified our code (both easier modification and readability, as well as familiarity). So some dynamic memory allocation in a non-critical section was a worthwhile tradeoff.
