Hi, just today I was finally able to get reliable outputs from the ultrasonic sensor, which had been holding me up. I had a typo in the code that calculates the speed of sound, which had been leading to impossible distance outputs.
I got the waterproof sensor listed in the materials and the more common one that's a board with two sensors. Both respond about the same.
I'm using the newping library's median function, with a number of measurements and a max distance to help it hone in on a good result. I'm not sure if it will be stable enough for a fast acting alert, in earlier testing it jumps around some. Maybe the alert would be better coming from excessive bilge pump run time. Maybe both.
Hopefully you can get communications with the Victron to work. I had gotten mixed results and then my Victron died and I replaced it with a Balmar Smartgage 200. I haven't seen anyone pull data from that yet.
I would think you could make relays for controlling AC into switches in thinger, but I haven't gotten to the control part of my project yet.
