Thanks! All the information I've read and used is linked in the story. Did you find https://github.com/webusb/arduino/tree/gh-pages/demos ? There's some more sample code.
Too bad! I bought the shield on a maker faire. Much better than buying a kit and soldering the 100+ LEDs myself ;-)
Fortunately, if you want a LoL shield, there are still other options available.
I didn't know about their XRF radios. They sound really easy to use.
