Thanks for your comments. I think that should be possible because OBD diagnose tool usually works in the same way. I personally haven't tried this before, and I am also a layman of the automobiles. You may want to have a look at the PIDs on Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs, or have some suggestions from professionals. Hope it helps.
