You won't get the correct distance if there is an obstacle in front of the vehicle. This is a proof of concept project and therefore only works under certain conditions (small scale, no obstacles ...). I have not worked with a GPS module yet, so unfortunately I can't provide a code for this.
No, the Development kit is not used in this project.
