Glad you liked the project! The base and stand measurements are nonessential. You can make it as big or small as you like using the instructions I provided. My stand ended up being about 1 foot in diameter after construction, and about 10" tall without the camera attached.
Thanks, Denis! I set the PIRprevState to HIGH simply because that is what worked the best after a lot of experimentation while trying to write the code. I'll be honest, I'm still learning myself so I don't have a great explanation as to why it worked, but I hope to figure that out as I learn more about the Arduino!
