    Hi, I made a new version V2.2 to have full altitude value up to 999m, and an automatic brightness variation of the display by the way of a LDR photoresistor. Have a look at the information and the pictures above. The new V2.2 sketch is also available for downloading. :-)

    Hi, the USB B female I used let you easily connect the HUD to the car lighter (and an adapter 12V to 5V) by the way of a simple USB printer cable. It is just for the 5Vcc power supply.

    From today it is available a V2 (version two) of the software that together with two wires and one resistor you will have altitude information on the display as thousand of meters (i.e. 0.89 = 890m, or 2.45 = 2450m), just press one more time the S/H button!

    Hi,
    when I start driving I have just to "turn the key" to ignite the engine and go on. Car instruments, including this HUD, as well start working after that single, usual, popular operation.

    Bluetooth? Wifi? Login? Password? Pairing? Phone battery lasting? More cabling?

    Keep it simple.

    Hi,
    RF remote control just work in "parallel" with buttons, so you could remove it from the project if you do not need it. Remove also the code to manage it, of course.
    But my opinion is the remote control is very useful! :-)

    Hi Wilian,
    I think the project is different so you have to do a new one. Do you have bow and stern thrusters on your boat? I would start with this: a GPS checking the position where you want to stay, maybe also a compass sensor for heading, and controlling the thrusters to repositioning the boat in place...

    Hi again, I made it, everything is working on my choice to power it at 3.3v. Up to today I tested and verified: digitalRead, digitalWrite, analogRead, analogWrite both PWM and DAC; I provided a serial monitor though pins RX/TX <-> FTDI serial interface and SoftwareSerial library; finally I connected an OLED 128x32 display by the way of SDA/SCL and Wire library. Cool!

    Hi, the code works perfectly as is.
    Line number 86 "NewTone (buzzerPin,4);" plays 4 bips in just a second, exactly 4Hz, (bip,bip,bip,bip) to inform the user the vario is starting to work. The buzzer in the project plays sound just applying signal level high (3.3 volts); it isn't a simple passive loudspeaker, but it is an active buzzer with an internal oscillator instead. It works also with more higher frequencies than zero or a few hertz.
    You could use also your passive loudspeaker but you have to modify the rest of the code as you already done with the line number 86. Have fun.

    No video at the moment, maybe next spring season I'll do one. To buy an autopilot for sure is the best solution for the boat. To make one is the best solution to learn something about how it works, for sure, and maybe to make a better buy after that... ;-)

    Hi Pierre,
    is very hard to say what is wrong with your circuit from here. But you could investigate step by step. First of all is to check the power: RAW pin voltage (between 3.5v and 9.0v I guess)? VCC pin voltage (3.3v)? Disconnect power to the Mini. Connect the serial adapter to program again the Mini. Start Arduino IDE and edit my code. Enable my debugging inside my code changing line nr. 29 "const boolean isDebug = false;" to "const boolean isDebug = true;" Load the new sketch with debugging enabled into Arduino Mini by the way of Arduino IDE and serial adapter. Enable Serial Monitor in Arduino IDE (Tools/Serial Monitor). Modify Serial Monitor baud rate to 9600. Now the sketch should be running on the Mini and Serial Monitor show activity... :-)

    Hi Pierre,
    for next PCB try the "blue sheets", are much better than yellow ones. I still use ferric chloride...
    About the library try this: https://github.com/jarzebski/Arduino-MS5611. Please note that "psensor" is just an instance of MS5611, you can use also "mysensor", or "anysens" or whatever you like as name of it; of course change this name also in the other part of the code.

    Yes, it does. The picture shows a similar HUD as mine. Mine, the one in this project, got red and a bit smaller numbers, a compass, a led... :-)

    Hi, first, make a turn (loop) on the main pulley, second, rope should be slightly in tension by the way of using bungee holding other pulleys.

    Hi, actually I do not know a compass module simple, without maintenance and calibration, not suffering of interferences and manual magnetic adjustment needs... do you? GPS is rocky instead.

    Thank you! My experience on the sea pushed me to build my own autopilot but most important have been the necessity to have free hands during Tea Time on board, of course! It took around 6 months... :-)

    Hi Doug, everything is real and is working but I would not use this in a day or night navigation, or more, with rough sea and strong wind. First of all problems you may have it is not waterproof: think to have a capsize, or just a wave, spray or rain, after a while, because of salty water, autopilot will get damage forever...

    Please, could you draw/explain better how is connected the antenna for capturing magnetic field? Do you think a "coil" antenna would be more sensitive than a "ring" one?

    Ah yes, taking away the 8 pull-up resistors and placing just one on A1 pin, the one connected to mux output! This modification should work without side effects. Thumb up, you have a good sight, thanks.
