I'm really not sure about the copyright... I remember this clock was also part of a DIY in the electronic magazine Elektor many, many years ago... This one I made was indeed an idea that I had from reading about it, made for non-commercial use. As much of the things we tinker about, it is more a kind of..."How would I do this with the parts I have"... more a creative process than a "I want to copy their stuff".
And I'm glad you liked it, and brought the idea of copyright up. I hope we -tinkerers- can continue with our creative processes as a hobby.
That would be a nice idea... Maybe I'll leave it to others to do that :-) But you can still get different colours, since there are some 3-coloured ones around.
