I really love that this project uses corrugated plastic -- really inexpensive and easy to cut with hand tools, it dramatically lowers the bar to getting involved with robotics and encourages multiple iterations. This is really terrific!
This is one of the most interesting projects I've ever seen! I imagine you could have more coils to increase the vertical resolution, or do you run into limits of the maximum length? And what do you think the best horizontal resolution is?
Did you consider other liquids or perhaps something florescent?
You could really be crazy with a spiral coil pattern and plots that convert Cartesian to polar.
