PHPoC Shield recently released new firmware and new library with many advance features. Problem may come from the incompatibility between library and firmware.
Can you access the setting page of PHPoC Shield?
If possible, please tell me firmware version of PHPoC Shield!
And also please tell me the library version of PHPoC Shield library you used on Arduino IDE!

I think each protocols has it own advantages.
I think developers of PHPoc selecst WebSockets because WebSocket is real time, two directional communication, allowing to control/monitor sensors/actuators at the same time
