I am not really using anything special on the Arduino 101 at this point except for the 6-axis. I actually just supplemented that with an I2C compass to bring it up to nine. I was getting what I considered to be unacceptabe drift. I am using an I2C display from a Grove kit, but I have pulled that patch board off and am just running through the pins on the motor controller. I have been playing around with the neural node library over at http://www.general-vision.com/software/curieneurons/ , but I don't see any reason you couldn't run it on a different board currently.
