Thanks. I am not sure why that should happen. Maybe try running the motors with the shield in a test code first, to see if the motor shield is not faulty ?
Thanks ! and yes you can use an Infrared system; just one thing, other than making sure you always have a line of sight : how would you make sure your receiver always faces the transmitter even when the robot turns 90 or lets say 180 degrees ? (could be done, yes, but that would be a bit more complex I think)
