This code was written for Mega which has 3 hardware serial ports, so basically SERIAL_PORT_HARDWARE_OPEN stands for Serial1 (it's defined in the Maestro library). It doesn't work for you, because you're probably trying to compile and upload this program to a different Arduino board like Uno which has only one hardware serial port. With a few small changes in the code it would work with a different board, but you would have to use SoftwareSerial instead.

It's possible, but it would require some changes to the current design. The Hitec HS-7955TG servo motor (which is very expensive and powerful) was my quickfix to make the Barbot work without changing it's design (previously I used shitty TowerPro MG995 which was overheating and not able to press the lever after making several cocktails). You can consider using lever mechanism to press the dispenser lever, so you will need less power and torque to achieve the same result.
