This project is addressing the concept of an "extended" body, of self-identification by sound, and at the same time it is an ironical reference to the topic of disguise and urban camouflage. Already in my childhood I heard about the methods of special services to calculate the number of people in the room, their age, and even whether they carry weapons, by the sound of steps. In China, I met a person who told me that he can determine diseases by the sound of one's steps. In addition, as a child I loved to shuffle loudly, and I was forbidden to do so; in general I was told that the quieter a person walked, the more polite and correct it was.
All these thoughts and knowledge led me to the idea of creating a wearable sound device, which, on one hand, can amplify the sounds of footsteps (loudly and clearly manifesting one's presence), and on the other hand, allows you to replace the sound of your steps with any other - for example, sound of crunching snow (which is especially spectacular in summer), or to create the effect of steps on a concrete floor, to sound as if one is wearing heels, etc. Thus, you can radically change the format of your sound presence in space, as well as your own perception of yourself in it. Plus, you can record looped fragments of your walking and create an effect of a crowd.
